About this tool

This tool converts bouldering grades between the V-Scale and Font Scale grading scales.

Please keep in mind that climbing grades are not universal, and vary depending on the country/region, the type of climbing, and subjective opinions of climbers.

This tool is meant to be a simple reference between the V-Scale and Font Scale, which are commonly referenced in commercial climbing gyms, in competition climbing, and outdoor bouldering.

Data source

To build this tool quickly, I only used one reference source for the grade conversions: thecrag.com/en/article/grades#bouldering-grade-systems. I used the difficulty band groupings in the "BOULDERING GRADE SYSTEMS" table to map the V-Scale and Font Scale to their equivalent grades.

Please note that different sources may have slightly different grade conversions, sometimes differing by a grade or two. In the future, I may adapt the grade mapping used in this tool to reflect multiple sources.
